Development Update: November 17, 2021

Marriott International Headquarters & Marriott Hotel
The new Marriott International Headquarters is scheduled to reach substantial completion by the end of the year, pending several inspections and verifications. While the signage is complete on the exterior, inside rand* Construction Corporation is steadily working on the interior fit-out of all 21 floors. The exterior and sidewalks are nearly complete, as is the plaza’s hardscape and landscape. The plaza is expected to be completed by the first week of December.
Inside the new Marriott Hotel, interior construction is nearly complete, and the building is now completely enclosed. Signage for the restaurant and the rooftop bar has been installed along the exterior, with just the hotel’s signage remaining. Meanwhile, as the millwork, finishes and furniture are installed in the public spaces and guestrooms, operations are ramping up in preparation for associate training and the hotel’s opening in early 2022.
Sidewalks along all three sides of the project (Wisconsin, Woodmont and Norfolk avenues) are now open and the sections of Wisconsin and Woodmont avenues that are adjacent to the development site have been repaved, while striping is still pending approval. A new crosswalk over Woodmont Avenue to Garage 11 is anticipated to be completed and available for use by the end of the year. Pedestrians and vehicular commuters are advised to proceed with caution and follow all directional signage as occasional closures may occur for access to the buildings for the remainder of construction.
