DEVELOPMENT UPDATE:
Marriott International Headquarters & Marriott Hotel

Week of April 19, 2021

Earlier this month, the hoist for the Marriott Hotel that has been in place throughout most of the initial phase of construction finally came down. Along the office building’s façade, the glass curtain wall is nearly complete, with only miscellaneous trim and glass installation remaining. Along the top of the buildings, the green roofs are now complete and already thriving.

At the base of the development site, phased work is underway on the surrounding hardscape. Throughout this process, pedestrians and vehicular commuters are advised to proceed with caution and follow all directional signage until this work is completed. The development team is working to ensure access to the adjacent businesses and residences will be maintained throughout.

Additional work is scheduled to begin soon along the east sidewalk of Woodmont Avenue, adjacent to Bethesda Place, to support the installation of a crosswalk from the future plaza area to Garage 11.

Meanwhile, work is soon beginning on the plaza between the office and hotel buildings. Also this month, Marriott’s general contractor rand* construction corporation begins its work on the interior fit-out. More information will be shared soon about the work they are performing on the development site.
