Week of January 18, 2021
In the new year, significant progress continues in downtown Bethesda at the development site of the future Marriott International Headquarters and Marriott Hotel.
On the exterior façade, installation of the curtain wall and continues and is expected to reach the roof of the office building by the end of January. The entire glass curtain wall is anticipated to be complete this spring. Along Wisconsin Avenue, the installation of the lobby’s glass wall has begun with structural supports, and glass placements are expected to begin in February.
Inside the buildings, the buildout continues with the installation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work ongoing, and with a total seventeen elevators inside the office building, and another five inside the hotel, several elevators are now complete.
On the office building’s rooftop, additional roofing and miscellaneous steelwork continue through January, where the installation of the green roof has also begun. Hovering above the office building, the tower crane is scheduled for removal by the end of January.
Meanwhile along Woodmont Avenue, the telecommunications infrastructure is now complete and awaiting the installation of telecom cables. The only remaining underground work includes the installation of new traffic signaling.
