The Latest Construction Update
Week of October 12, 2020
Work continues around the base of the construction site. Along Woodmont Avenue, excavation is nearly halfway complete as crews are digging a 6-foot-wide trench to facilitate the installation of future telecommunications and signaling duct banks this fall. Moving southbound along Woodmont Avenue at a rate of approximately 50 feet per day, this work will continue for the next few weeks and is anticipated to be complete by the end of October. While most of the work is occurring within the perimeter of the development site, please be aware that some noise and light pollution are expected, and work may occasionally continue into the early morning hours. No lane closures or are expected as part of this work.
Elsewhere on the construction site, concrete pouring operations continue and are expected to be completed this fall. Deliveries and installation of curtain wall and glass continue, which can be seen rising along the exterior façade of both buildings. Inside, buildout continues as mechanical, electrical, plumbing, masonry, and more are at different stages throughout all of the floors inside each of the office and hotel buildings.
Meanwhile, construction of the new Marriott International Headquarters and Marriott Hotel is fast approaching its next major milestone. Following the hotel building topping out, the office building next door is expected to top-out in early November 2020.

Your Safety Around the Construction Site
Throughout this project, approved Montgomery County and State Highway traffic and pedestrian control plans ensure minimal impact to traffic flow around the construction site. Along Woodmont and Norfolk Avenues, walkways with overhead protection now allow for uninterrupted pedestrian access throughout the project. Pedestrian access is now aided by wayfinding signage at the entrances of these covered walkways. Along Wisconsin Avenue, pedestrians are redirected to use the east sidewalk for their safety. Access along the west side has been closed following State Highway approvals. The safety of commuters and pedestrians around the construction site is vitally important, so we ask that you please be vigilant and pay close attention to detour signs and flagging operators as they help to ensure your safety, direct traffic, and minimize disruptions.
