Over the next few weeks, hoists will be installed adjacent to Wisconsin Avenue and Woodmont Avenue for the office building and the hotel structures respectively to facilitate the delivery of materials. It is anticipated that both hoists should be fully operational in early June.
The office building structure is now reaching up to the tenth floor, just as the hotel is reaching its seventh. A few remaining critical utility tie-ins are being completed now along Wisconsin and Woodmont Avenues. The installation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure continues above street level and soon should be visible to pedestrians and commuters. Early morning deliveries and placement of concrete will continue starting a 5:30 a.m. most days. By the end of May, deliveries of the exterior window system will begin, followed by installation starting in early June.
Throughout this project, approved Montgomery County and State Highway traffic and pedestrian control plans ensure minimal impact to traffic flow around the construction site. Along Woodmont and Norfolk Avenues, walkways with overhead protection now allow for uninterrupted pedestrian access throughout the project. Pedestrian access is now aided by wayfinding signage at the entrances of these covered walkways. Along Wisconsin Avenue, pedestrians are redirected to use the east sidewalk for their safety. Access along the west side has been closed following State Highway approvals. The safety of commuters and pedestrians around the construction site is vitally important, so we ask that you please be vigilant and pay close attention to detour signs and flagging operators as they help to ensure your safety, direct traffic, and minimize disruptions.
Bi-monthly construction updates
The development team is committed to an open dialog with the community and holds bi-monthly construction updates open to the general public. These updates are generally scheduled for the first Tuesday of every other month and take place in downtown Bethesda at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center located at 4805 Edgemoor Lane, Bethesda, MD 20814.
However, due to health concerns related to the global COVID-19 pandemic, we will not be holding the regularly scheduled bi-monthly meetings with the developer and general contractor in-person until further notice, however, we are exploring ways to host these meetings virtually.
