Happy New Year!

Last January, we formally announced our intent to move our headquarters to downtown Bethesda. Nearly one year later, it’s finally official! We couldn’t be more excited to become a part of the community.

In December, our Development Team (The Bernstein Companies and Boston Properties) won unanimous approval from the Montgomery County Planning Board to build our state-of-the-art headquarters and a new 238-room flagship Marriott Hotel in downtown Bethesda. The plans were reviewed by Planning Department staff under the 2017 Bethesda Downtown Sector Plan and Bethesda Downtown Design Guidelines. In addition to the Planning Board’s approval, the project also garnered the support of the Design Advisory Panel, which advises the Planning Board on new projects in downtown Bethesda.

What’s next?

The Development Team will apply and receive its certified site plan and grading permits during the first quarter of 2018. Construction fencing will be installed and the removal of the existing building will begin shortly thereafter. As we get closer, we’ll advise you of the schedule and any road and/or sidewalk closures.

Over the next few years, this website and our ongoing newsletter will keep you informed of the latest development updates. We’ll also share occasional news and information from Marriott International and our engagement in the Bethesda community.
