The Latest Construction Update
Week of July 13, 2020

This week, concrete pouring operations are underway on the office building’s 14th floor, just as construction finishes on the hotel building’s 12th floor. The project is approaching a major milestone as the hotel building is scheduled to top-out in July.

Installation of curtain wall and glass continue for the exterior façade of both buildings. Meanwhile, every trade contractor including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, masonry, and more, is hard at work inside both the office and hotel buildings. Outside, the installation of street lighting and telecommunications infrastructure along Woodmont and Norfolk Avenues continues.

Along both Wisconsin Avenue and Woodmont Avenue, hoists are now operational on the office building and hotel building respectively to facilitate the delivery of materials. In addition to the covered walkways, nets have been installed throughout the building to protect from the unlikely chance of any falling debris

Virtual Community Meetings

The development team is committed to an open dialog with the Bethesda community and holds monthly virtual community meetings that are open to the public, where you are invited to join the team online for a live presentation and Q&A of the latest construction updates.

Our next virtual community meeting will be held this Tuesday, July 28, at 6:00 PM EDT. Please join us online at that time by selecting this link.

Prior to the next community meeting, we encourage you to submit any development and construction-related questions and comments to development@mhqbethesda.com, or call (240) 514-7831 to leave a voicemail message.

Your Safety Around the Construction Site

Throughout this project, approved Montgomery County and State Highway traffic and pedestrian control plans ensure minimal impact to traffic flow around the construction site. Along Woodmont and Norfolk Avenues, walkways with overhead protection now allow for uninterrupted pedestrian access throughout the project. Pedestrian access is now aided by wayfinding signage at the entrances of these covered walkways. Along Wisconsin Avenue, pedestrians are redirected to use the east sidewalk for their safety. Access along the west side has been closed following State Highway approvals. For available walkways around the construction site along Woodmont, Norfolk, and Wisconsin Avenues, view the pedestrian site logistics plan here. The safety of commuters and pedestrians around the construction site is vitally important, so we ask that you please be vigilant and pay close attention to detour signs and flagging operators as they help to ensure your safety, direct traffic, and minimize disruptions.
