The Latest Construction Update
Week of June 15, 2020

The office building’s twelfth floor is now being framed, just as the hotel building’s tenth floor is being framed. Concrete pours are expected to take place throughout the week. Along Wisconsin Avenue, a hoist is now operational on the office building to facilitate the delivery of materials. Along Woodmont Avenue, installation continues on another hoist for the hotel building.

Meanwhile, installation of the exterior window system will commence within the next two weeks. Inside the office and hotel buildings, contractors are hard at work with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, masonry and more.

Site utility work is now essentially complete and we anticipate no additional construction-related street closures along Wisconsin, Woodmont and Norfolk Avenues. Most of the remaining work is anticipated to occur during daytime hours, so noise should also be dramatically reduced during nighttime hours and weekends. However, early morning deliveries and placement of concrete will continue most weekdays beginning a 5:30 a.m. and will continue into the fall.

Please note that construction activities at the construction site will not conflict with the Montgomery County Shared Streets “Streetery” initiative being coordinated by MCDOT and Bethesda Urban Partnership along Woodmont and Norfolk Avenues in downtown Bethesda.

The development team is committed to an open dialog with the Bethesda community and holds monthly virtual community meetings that are open to the public. Your Safety Around the Construction Site

Throughout this project, approved Montgomery County and State Highway traffic and pedestrian control plans ensure minimal impact to traffic flow around the construction site. Along Woodmont and Norfolk Avenues, walkways with overhead protection now allow for uninterrupted pedestrian access throughout the project. Pedestrian access is now aided by wayfinding signage at the entrances of these covered walkways. Along Wisconsin Avenue, pedestrians are redirected to use the east sidewalk for their safety. Access along the west side has been closed following State Highway approvals. The safety of commuters and pedestrians around the construction site is vitally important, so we ask that you please be vigilant and pay close attention to detour signs and flagging operators as they help to ensure your safety, direct traffic, and minimize disruptions.
