Development Update: Week of March 30, 2020
March 27th, 2020
NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY
Marriott International Headquarters
Week of March 30, 2020
Construction activities continue at the Marriott International Headquarters and Marriott Hotel this week.
Early morning work continues every day as deliveries of rebar and other construction supplies make their way onto the construction site. Meanwhile, large-scale concrete placement operations continue and are scheduled for every day this week except for Thursday beginning at 5:30 a.m. As the project advances, we anticipate early morning concrete placements to continue most weekdays through the fall of 2020.
Along Wisconsin Avenue, Pepco continues to perform work at night on the underground utility vaults toward the north end of the construction site, which is expected to continue through next week. Nearby at night, work on stormwater connections and duct banks is ongoing toward the south end of the construction site. Southbound Wisconsin Avenue should remain unaffected as all of this work is being performed within the curb lane.
Along the southern side of Norfolk Avenue, the sidewalk remains closed during daytime hours. However next week, another covered pedestrian walkway, similar to the walkway installed along Woodmont Avenue, will be constructed along Norfolk Avenue to maintain pedestrian access and provide protection from overhead work. Two-way vehicular traffic along Norfolk Avenue remains unaffected.
Throughout this project, approved Montgomery County and State Highway traffic and pedestrian control plans ensure minimal impact to traffic flow around the construction site. For available walkways around the construction site along Woodmont, Norfolk and Wisconsin Avenues, view the pedestrian site logistics plan here. Our number one priority is the safety and security of commuters and pedestrians around the construction site. During this time, please be vigilant and pay close attention to detour signs and flagging operators as they help to ensure your safety, direct traffic, and minimize disruptions. We ask pedestrians to be vigilant and pay close attention to detour signs and flagging operators as they help to ensure your safety, direct traffic and minimize disruptions.
Bi-monthly construction updates
The development team is committed to an open dialog with the community and holds bi-monthly construction updates open to the general public. These updates are generally scheduled for the first Tuesday of every other month and take place in downtown Bethesda at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center located at 4805 Edgemoor Lane, Bethesda, MD 20814.
Due to health concerns related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we will not be holding the regularly scheduled bi-monthly meetings until further notice. For now, we invite you to submit any questions or comments to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Watch live construction time-lapse
You can see a live construction camera featuring a 24/7 time-lapse view of the development site.
