NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY

Week of March 9, 2020
Concrete placement operations continue at the Marriott International Headquarters construction site. Limited crews will be working this Saturday, March 7, on concrete operations as well as underground utility work on Wisconsin Avenue. Next week, large-scale concrete placements are anticipated to take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday beginning at 5:30 a.m. As the project advances into spring, we anticipate early morning placements to continue most days through the fall of 2020.
Further south along Wisconsin Avenue, work is continuing on underground utility vaults for the future hotel building. Weather permitting, vaults will be set by the end of next week. The removal of temporary sheet piles will result in an increase to noise and vibrations in the area and closure of the center lane on Wisconsin Avenue. Weather permitting, the vault and sheeting work will be completed next week and will occur from 9:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Nearby on both Wisconsin Avenue and Norfolk Avenue, Pepco will be working on pulling cable through the new underground electrical duct banks. Pepco’s work hours are approximately 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
In the coming weeks, the construction team will be installing another scaffold and overhead protection walkway on Norfolk Avenue in order to maintain pedestrian access and provide protection from overhead work.
Meanwhile, the development team continues to coordinate with the property management of neighboring buildings to ensure every effort is made to address their concerns and minimize disturbances caused by the ongoing work on the underground utility vaults, which is anticipated to continue through late spring 2020.
Throughout this project, approved Montgomery County and State Highway traffic and pedestrian control plans ensure minimal impact to traffic flow around the construction site. Our number one priority is the safety and security of commuters and pedestrians around the construction site. During this time, please be vigilant and pay close attention to detour signs and flagging operators as they help to ensure your safety, direct traffic, and minimize disruptions.
Bimonthly construction updates
The development team is committed to an open dialog with the community and holds bi-monthly construction updates open to the general public. These updates are generally scheduled for the first Tuesday of every other month and take place in downtown Bethesda at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center located at 4805 Edgemoor Lane, Bethesda, MD 20814.
