Marriott International Associates Fill Backpacks with Supplies to Benefit Montgomery County Students

Last month, associates at the Marriott International headquarters contributed to a back-to-school backpack and school supply drive benefiting the National Center for Children and Families (NCCF) and its The Neediest Kids program, which serves students in need across the region. Based in Montgomery County, Maryland, the NCCF is located less than two miles from Marriott’s headquarters campus and is one of the company’s established nonprofit partners. The NCCF’s mission is “to create total, healthy living environments for vulnerable children, youth, and families, and the quality of life which empowers their ability to thrive and demonstrate responsibility.”

For an entire week, the backpack and school supply drive was held at Marriott’s headquarters, where associates were encouraged to donate new backpacks, pens, pencils, markers, crayons, paper, notebooks, binders, folders, and other school supplies. The NCCF collected and sorted all the items for its annual Backpacks & Brownies! event held at the organization’s Bethesda location, where volunteers filled backpacks with all the donated supplies. Combined with items donated from other participating organizations, altogether the NCCF assembled 679 backpacks for local students. Marriott International’s contributions are part of the company’s sustainability and social impact platform, Serve 360, which supports Marriott’s commitment to making positive and sustainable impact wherever it does business.
