Marriott International Corporate Chef Prepares 100 meals for Local Homeless
Chef Rainer Zinngrebe, Vice President, Corporate Chef of Luxury Brands at Marriott International, was joined by volunteers to contribute their time and talents to prepare 100 meals for local homeless individuals. The initiative was a collaboration between Marriott International, KindWorks and Community Food Rescue (a program of Manna Food Center). The meals benefited residents of Cordell Place and Seneca Heights Apartments; housing facilities managed by the Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless.
Volunteers from KindWorks, an organization that provides volunteerism opportunities in poverty, hunger, health, tolerance, emergency relief, and the environment, joined Chef Rainer in the food preparation. With the smells of lemon grass, thai basil leaves, red curry paste, fresh lime leaves and ginger root, plantains, garlic, and onions filling the kitchen, the volunteers cleaned, chopped, sautéed, baked, mixed, minced, and diced to prepare 100 meals. Altogether they made nearly 40 trays of Taiwanese chicken, spicy curried vegetables, roasted zucchini, and rice.
