Marriott Sponsors “Bike to Work Day” Pit Stop in Downtown Bethesda

On Friday, May 17, Marriott International celebrated National Bike Month by joining Bike to Work Day in downtown Bethesda. For the second year in a row, the company sponsored a “Bike to Work Day” pit stop in Downtown Bethesda, one of more than 115 pit stops located throughout the region. Marriott welcomed hundreds of cyclists to the pit stop with sponsored food and prizes, including the grand prize of a brand-new Element Hotels-branded bicycle from Priority Bicycles.

The regional Bike to Work Day event, organized by Commuter Connections and the Washington Area Bicyclists Association, brings together tens of thousands of DMV-area cycling commuters to participate in a fun, environmentally-friendly and healthy way to get to work. Marriott returns this year as a Silver sponsor of the event.

In addition to this year’s Downtown Bethesda pit stop, for 16 years the company has hosted its own pit stop at its corporate headquarters on Fernwood Drive. Marriott has long advocated bike commuting, while the company’s biking club encourages and incentivizes associates to commute by bike with showers, lockers and bike storage.

Ruth Madrigal won the grand prize bicycle from Priority Bicycles.
