Development Update: Week of Jan. 28, 2019
NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY
Marriott International Headquarters
Week of January 28, 2019:
Excavation and hauling activities were temporarily delayed during recent periods of rainy weather, but are now underway again and will continue for the next several months. Blasting of the bedrock will likely commence in March, and concrete pouring operations will likely commence in May.
Recent work performed adjacent to Woodmont Grill resulted in unavoidable damage to sidewalk pavers. Patches of pavement were temporarily installed, but repair and installation of new pavers is expected in the coming week.
The development team has released the following site plan that outlines upcoming utility work to be performed along Wisconsin, Woodmont and Norfolk Avenues, including estimated dates for each phase. Please note, this plan does not include anticipated work to be performed by Pepco during this time. This work will include upgrading the storm water, sanitary and water lines surrounding the site. Noisy work will be performed only during daytime hours, such as jackhammering, street sawing, etc. The work performed during nighttime hours will not include noisier activities. Nighttime construction activities are scheduled from mid-February to mid-November, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
Throughout this time, a traffic control plan will ensure minimal impact to traffic flow around the site. Lane and sidewalk closures remain in place along sections of Woodmont, Norfolk and Wisconsin Avenues (view map of all closures here). Pedestrians will be detoured to the east sidewalk of Wisconsin Avenue during work hours and should take advantage of nearby crosswalks as needed. Please be vigilant and pay close attention to signage as detours may change occasionally. Pedestrians should also be cautious as they move around the site, especially during this winter season as accumulations of snow and ice may cause slippery conditions.
We anticipate these closures to remain for an extended period of time until project completion. During this time, we ask for your patience throughout this process, we thank you for your understanding, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. Our number one priority is pedestrian safety in and around the construction site.

These updates are generally scheduled for the first Tuesday of each month and take place in downtown Bethesda at the Montgomery County Regional Service Center, on the second floor in rooms A and B, located at 4805 Edgemoor Lane, Bethesda, MD 20814.
The next update will take place next Tuesday, February 5th at 6:00 p.m.
